SLR Krzemionki

SLR Krzemionki is a broadcasting tower standing 62 meters tall on limestone hills at an elevation of 244 meters above sea level in southern Kraków. It transmits multiple radio frequencies including Radio WNET, Polskie Radio 24, Antyradio, Meloradio, and Radio TOK FM to the surrounding areas.

Construction of the broadcasting facility began in May 1964 and was completed in October 1965. The project represented an important infrastructure investment for the Małopolskie region during the 1960s.

The tower has broadcast Polish Television Program 2 since October 1970, connecting the Małopolskie region to national television content. It remains a recognizable landmark that residents use as a visual reference point in the southern part of the city.

The location is easy to spot from the surrounding hills and serves as a visual landmark for visitors navigating the area. Note that this is a private broadcasting facility where interior access is typically not available to the public.

Construction required extensive earthworks due to height differences of up to 25 meters across the building site. This technical challenge made erecting the tower a complex engineering effort for the period.
