Schaffgotsch Palace in Wrocław

Schaffgotsch Palace is a three-wing residence with red brick facades accented by light sandstone details and a forecourt that defines its entrance. The building retains its original architectural character alongside an adjoining English-style garden with historical plantings.

Hans Ulryk von Schaffgotsch commissioned architect Karl Heidenreich in 1890 to expand and transform an existing house into a Renaissance-style residence. The renovated structure became a significant building in Wrocław's residential landscape of that era.

The palace has operated as a student center since 1956, hosting film screenings and cultural events that draw young visitors regularly. This use has kept the building active and connected to local community life.

The palace is situated on Kosciuszki Street in the city center and is easily accessible by foot. Visitors may view the exterior and courtyard during the student center's operating hours.

The building suffered fire damage in 1972 but was carefully restored afterward, and briefly served as a nightclub in the 1990s. This unusual use added a modern chapter to its residential heritage.
