Wodzicki Palace in Kościelniki

Wodzicki Palace in Kościelniki is a classicist residence set within a spacious park and built with red brick featuring symmetrical facades and regular proportions. The structure displays the clean lines and balanced design typical of this architectural period without unnecessary ornament.

Stefan Morstin started building the residence in the early 1700s, and later renovations changed it from Baroque forms to the classicist style we see today. The building was registered as a national cultural heritage site in 1947.

The palace reflects how Polish nobility shaped their country estates and the tastes of the Wodzicki family who made it their home. Walking through the grounds reveals how the wealthy lived in the Kraków region during different periods.

The site is located in the eastern part of Kraków and can be reached by public transport or car. Plan ahead as the buildings are not always open to visitors, so checking access conditions before arriving is important.

The Wodzicki family, who lived here until World War II, abandoned the palace as the Red Army advanced across Poland. This departure ended centuries of family occupation and left the building to face an uncertain future.
