Chocianów Palace

Chocianow Palace is a 19th century rectangular stone building with tall windows, decorated cornices, and a central entrance framed by four columns topped by a triangular pediment. The facade shows classical proportions and represents significant regional architecture.

The site began as a defensive structure after 1297 when Duke Bolko I of Swidnica built a fortified complex against claims from Bohemia. The current palace took shape in the 19th century, with older fortification elements incorporated into the foundation.

The palace shows the architectural language of Lower Silesia, blending German and Polish building styles across different periods. You can see this mix in details like the window frames and the entrance design.

The building sits in a quiet area that rewards exploration on foot if you enjoy wandering through the surroundings. The best time to visit is between May and September when the weather is mild and pleasant.

Beneath the classical facade lie traces of a much older past, as parts of the original medieval fortifications remain visible in the foundations today. These hidden layers tell of a time long before the current elegant structure was built.
