Podzamcze

Podzamcze is a historic district on the left bank of Wieruszów containing key public buildings, administrative offices, and schools. The area centers around churches, a railway station, and municipal facilities that form the backbone of daily life here.

After the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the district became part of Prussia and was named Wilhelmsbrück while the rest of the town remained under different rule. This division marked a significant distinction in how the area developed separately for many years.

The area reflects the coexistence of different faiths, each maintaining their own places of worship that still serve the community today. This religious diversity shaped how people lived and gathered across generations.

The district is home to the headquarters of the Carrier Pigeon Breeders Association, an unexpected institution that speaks to local history and community interests. It also houses one of the town's two fire stations, showing how essential services are spread across the city.
