Przełęcz Walimska

Walimska Pass is a mountain crossing in the Owl Mountains with a series of tight hairpin curves on its northern approach. The road connects valleys in Lower Silesia and today serves cyclists, drivers, and hikers exploring this region.

The pass served as a key trade route in medieval times, connecting settlements and enabling commerce across the Owl Mountains. Later development brought modern roads that improved access to the surrounding communities and shaped how the area grew.

The surrounding villages maintain traditional ways of building with stone and wood that reflect local mountain crafts. Visitors notice how the landscape and architecture here have shaped a distinct identity among residents who value their connection to these mountains.

The pass offers parking areas and is accessible year-round, though winter conditions require extra caution on the winding road. Hiking trails branch off from the summit area to nearby peaks and other natural features in the surrounding landscape.

The northern approach spans 9.6 kilometers with a 4.8% average gradient, while the southern route extends 4.4 kilometers with a 5.5% incline.
