Rezerwat przyrody Las Murckowski, Nature reserve in Murcki district of Katowice, Poland.
Las Murckowski reserve covers 141 hectares of mixed forest with slopes of Wanda Hill and the sources of Przyrwa stream. The terrain offers walking routes while maintaining strict protection of the most sensitive natural areas within its boundaries.
The reserve was established in December 1953 with just 7 hectares and expanded to 100 hectares in 1989. A final extension in 2022 brought it to its current size of 141 hectares.
The reserve features educational paths with information boards that introduce visitors to the forest ecosystems and environmental protection practices used in the area.
The area is accessible via marked walking and cycling trails that guide visitors through the forest landscape. Wearing sturdy footwear and staying on designated routes helps protect the sensitive ecosystems while ensuring a safe visit.
The reserve is home to beech trees over 150 years old and hosts more than 200 vascular plant species, including rare protected species such as snowdrops and broad-leaved helleborine. This botanical diversity creates a refuge for specialized forest organisms found nowhere else nearby.
