Płyta Desantu Czerniakowskiego

Płyta Desantu Czerniakowskiego is a war memorial standing at the Vistula riverbank in Warsaw, honoring soldiers who crossed the water during 1944 operations. The structure contains a granite base with a bronze plaque inscribed with text about those who participated in the landing.

Infantry soldiers landed here during night operations in autumn 1944 to support the Warsaw uprising fighters. This crossing was part of the larger struggle for the city during World War II.

The site honors soldiers who made the crossing and the people who awaited them on the opposite shore. Visitors can read the inscriptions that mark this important connection between two banks.

The memorial sits at the riverside, easily accessible from the nearby park area. Visitors should note that spring through fall offers the best conditions for a visit, as the riverside location can be less comfortable during winter months.

The stone replaces an earlier plaque from 1946 and was completely redesigned in 1951 by two architects who created a more substantial tribute. This evolution shows how the memory of this crossing was refined and strengthened over time.
