Palace in Winna Góra, Neoclassical palace in Winna Góra, Poland.
The Palace in Winna Góra is a neoclassical manor house located in the village of Winna Góra, in the Greater Poland Voivodeship. The building sits on a hill and is surrounded by a landscape park that was laid out alongside the house itself.
The site was originally part of a Cistercian property used for farming in the region. The current manor was built in 1887, when the land passed into private hands and was redesigned to reflect the neoclassical taste of the time.
The manor reflects the style of Polish landed gentry who adopted classical forms in the 19th century. Walking through the grounds, visitors can see how the building and the park were designed together as a single composed setting.
The grounds sit on a hill, so sturdy footwear is a good idea since some paths can be uneven or steep. Dry weather makes it much easier to walk around the full area surrounding the building.
The landscape park around the building follows an English garden concept that was fashionable among Polish manor owners in the 19th century but is rarely found in such a complete state today. The way the hill, tree groupings and paths work together is best noticed by walking slowly around the full perimeter.
