Granary on the Narew river

The granary features two main floors with three open portals facing the riverside, constructed with thick stone walls and defensive architectural elements throughout the structure.

Built between 1838 and 1844 by architect Jan Jakub Gay, the granary initially stored grain until 1853 when military authorities purchased it for the Modlin Fortress complex.

The structure represents industrial heritage from the 19th century and served as a filming location for the 1999 adaptation of the Polish literary classic Pan Tadeusz.

Visitors can reach the first floor directly, while accessing the second floor requires climbing a wooden ladder to view the Narew River and surrounding fortress.

The granary combined storage and military functions with specialized holes in the first floor designed for artillery and gun fire positions.
