Granary on the Narew river, Renaissance Revival granary in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, Poland.

The Granary on the Narew River is a historic storage building with two main floors and three open portals facing the waterside. Thick stone walls and sturdy architectural details throughout define its solid construction.

The building was constructed between 1838 and 1844 as a grain storage facility according to a local architect's design. After military authorities took control in the early 1850s, it became part of a nearby fortress complex's defense system.

The structure played a role in local film production and served as a location for adapting a famous Polish literary work. You can walk through the rooms and sense how such buildings were woven into the everyday life of the community.

The lower floor is easily reached from the outside and shows the original purpose of the building. A wooden ladder leads upward to the upper floor, where you get views of the river and the surrounding fortress area.

The building contains specially designed openings in the lower floor that were originally built for artillery and firing positions. These hidden military features reveal how the structure served two completely different purposes at once.
