City Park in Torun is a 25-hectare green space that stretches for roughly 1 kilometer along Bydgoska Street. It contains nearly 100 different species of trees and shrubs, with terrain that slopes toward the Vistula River on its southern side.
The park was founded in 1817 and ranks among Poland's earliest garden spaces of that era. It marked an important shift toward planned green areas during the 19th century in the region.
Schiller's Bench sits in the park with its gray and white marble surface and brown bas-relief portrait of the poet, serving as a focal point for visitors since the early 1900s. Locals and tourists alike pause here to acknowledge the poet's connection to the city and its cultural life.
Multiple walking paths run through the southern section, offering routes for different activity levels and preferences. The paths follow the natural slope of the land and work well for everyday exercise or leisurely strolls.
