The WOP post in Gościce is a military border station that once monitored the frontier between Poland and Czechoslovakia. The facility included sleeping quarters for around 56 soldiers, administrative offices, and observation equipment positioned to watch the assigned border section.
The station was established in 1945 as the 228th WOP post under the 49th command sector based in Paczków. It received a new designation as the 237th post in 1954.
The border guards stationed at Gościce developed specific procedures and protocols for communicating with their Czechoslovak counterparts during routine border patrols.
The former post can be viewed as a residential building that retains much of its original military structure. Access is limited since the property is now privately owned, making external observation the primary way to see its layout.
After its closure in 2003, the building was converted into a residence while retaining its distinctive military architecture. The transformation shows how border defense facilities were repurposed during Poland's shift toward European integration.
