Danków Castle

Danków Castle consists of ruins on the left bank of the Liswarta River with stone bastions arranged on a rectangular foundation. The remaining walls and the Krzepica Gate entrance allow visitors to see how the original fortification was organized.

Written records first mention the fortress in the 15th century, later becoming a residence of the Warszycki family during the 17th century. This shift shows its transformation from a military stronghold to a lived-in manor.

The fortress displays features of medieval defensive design that visitors can observe in the layout and masonry of the bastions. This structure shows how military thinking shaped architectural choices during its era.

The castle ruins are accessible year-round, and visitors can examine the fortification walls and bastions. Wearing sturdy shoes is recommended since the uneven ground and partially deteriorated structures require careful footing.

The fortress has an unusual layout with four half-bastions forming two separate hornwork systems, a configuration rarely seen in this form in Poland. This asymmetrical arrangement is still visible in the ruins today.
