Palace in Bełcz Wielki

This Baroque palace in Bełcz Wielki features a rectangular structure with a mansard roof, dormer windows, and a central entrance framed by a stone balustrade balcony supported by Doric columns. The architectural composition displays typical characteristics of Central European Baroque design.

The property passed through several ownership changes starting with Count von Kalkereuth in 1787 and later the Schönborn family who controlled it for many years. Ludwig Adolph Theodor Dürr acquired the estate in 1898 and began a new chapter in its development.

The interior features a wood-panelled entrance hall with parallel staircases that reflect how wealthy Polish families decorated their homes during the 1700s. This design choice shows the refined taste that shaped noble residences of that era.

The building underwent significant restoration work and is now in much better condition after years of deterioration. Visitors should plan to explore the surrounding area with the nearby village of Bełcz Wielki as a starting point.

A roof fire in 2016 caused severe damage to the building and triggered years of deterioration before being rescued. The intervention by new owners who purchased it in 2023 demonstrates how private investment can save endangered heritage structures.
