Villa Oksza in Zakopane

Villa Oksza is a wooden building in Zakopane featuring steeply pitched roofs, carved wood details, and decorative elements typical of regional mountain construction methods. The structure houses multiple rooms with traditional interiors and now serves as exhibition space for the Tatra Museum.

The villa was built in 1896 under architect Stanisław Witkiewicz and originally served as a residence for the Korwin-Kossakowski family. It later passed to Count Marcin Kęszycki, who maintained ownership of the property through the early 20th century.

The building displays hallmarks of Zakopane Style design with carved woodwork and regional decorative motifs visible both inside and on the exterior. The craftsmanship reflects local Tatra construction traditions where artisans demonstrated their skills through such residential buildings.

The building is located on Zamoyskiego Street at number 25 and can be visited as part of a museum displaying regional art and architectural history. Visitors should plan flexibly as opening hours may vary seasonally.

A ceiling beam inside carries an inscription marking the silver wedding anniversary of Count Marcin and Helena Kęszycki from February 1899. This personal dedication reminds us that such homes were not just living spaces but preservers of important family milestones.
