Piwnica pod Fortuną w Lublinie, Medieval cellar vault at Rynek 8, Lublin, Poland.
The entire interior of Piwnica pod Fortuną features polychrome decorations covering walls and ceilings with botanical patterns and emblematic illustrations.
During the 17th century, craftsmen decorated this cellar with paintings inspired by the Emblemata Saecularia book published by the de Bry brothers in 1596.
The cellar vault contains depictions of Venus, Amor, and Fortune goddess, representing common themes from European Renaissance and Baroque art traditions.
Guided tours operate Monday through Saturday at 12:00, with tickets available for purchase up to one month in advance at the Rynek 8 entrance.
This cellar represents the only known interior space where wall decorations directly reproduce illustrations from a Renaissance friendship book.
