Africarium, Oceanarium in Wrocław, Poland.
Africarium is an aquarium complex in Wrocław dedicated to African aquatic life. The facility contains multiple tanks housing fish, mammals, and reptiles from various African water environments.
This aquarium opened in 2014 as a dedicated African water center, marking a new approach to exhibiting these ecosystems worldwide at the time. It has since become an integral part of Wrocław Zoo.
The facility presents different African water habitats through its displays, from coral reefs to river environments. Visitors can observe how these distinct ecosystems are recreated and which animals inhabit each zone.
The venue is situated within Wrocław Zoo and is easily accessible from Wróblewskiego Street. The facility operates with extended hours from April through September, giving visitors more time to observe the animals.
A striking feature is the clear underwater tunnel extending about 18 meters (59 feet) where visitors walk surrounded by sharks and rays swimming overhead. This design creates an unusually close encounter with these larger marine animals.
