Castle in Lipienek, Medieval castle ruins in Lipienek, Poland

The castle ruins stand on a promontory that was formerly surrounded by the waters of Lake Zamkowe in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Built in the 13th century, this fortress served as the residence of the Teutonic commander of the Chełmno region from 1285 until 1335.

The structure represents the architectural traditions of the Teutonic Order, featuring a regular plan layout common in medieval military construction.

The remaining sections include foundations of the high castle and the southern wall of the northern wing, accessible with landowner permission.

Archaeological investigations in 1992 found no evidence of an earlier hillfort at this location, contrary to previous assumptions.
