The building was constructed around 1400 as a storage place for wine merchants. A residential section with a baroque facade was added above the cellars and remained part of the structure for centuries.

The cellars were rediscovered in 1953 during restoration work after being hidden for a long time. They were named after the Gorziwoda brothers who later operated a coffee roasting business in the space.
