The Church of Santo António features two bell towers and stands at 135 meters above sea level in the northwestern part of São Miguel Island.
The original temple expanded in 1543 through modifications that included the addition of two bell towers to accommodate the growing congregation.
The parish celebrates Saint Anthony with religious ceremonies, processions, and traditional rope bullfighting events near June 13 each year.
The parish covers 11.75 square kilometers with a population of 1,829 residents and maintains a density of 160 inhabitants per square kilometer.
Local men control bulls with ropes during festivities, while participants demonstrate their skills by challenging the animals with umbrellas.
