Miradouro da Senhora do Monte, Scenic viewpoint in Graça, Portugal
Miradouro da Senhora do Monte is a hilltop viewpoint in the Graça neighborhood of Lisbon, Portugal. The platform offers an open view over the historic center, the Tagus River, and the rooftops of Alfama toward the castle, surrounded by pine trees and a small baroque chapel from the 18th century.
A chapel stood here already at the time of the Christian reconquest in the 12th century. The earthquake of 1755 destroyed the old structure, after which the current building was rebuilt in the 1790s.
The chapel has carried the name Our Lady of the Mount since medieval times. Local women continue visiting the interior to pray before the saint's image, maintaining a tradition that spans several centuries.
The viewpoint lies uphill from Rua da Graça and can be reached after a short, steep walk. Morning hours and late afternoon see fewer visitors, offering more space on the benches.
A tile wall near the viewing platform shows a drawn map marking the main buildings and streets visible from the viewpoint. This orientation aid helps visitors match distant buildings and towers across the cityscape.
