Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceição

The church features a distinctive single nave design with a simple facade and contains an 18th-century gilded wooden altarpiece within its walls.

The religious structure dates back to the second half of the 12th century, with its foundation attributed to French monk D. Roberto of the Premonstratensian Order in 1178.

The interior displays numerous religious artifacts, including 18th-century glazed tiles with religious themes and a ceiling painted by 19th-century artist Joaquim Rasquinho.

The church maintains seasonal opening hours, operating from Tuesday to Friday with extended hours during summer months from June through September.

Archaeological excavations near the church revealed remnants of an Islamic defensive structure, including a medieval town gate beneath the current building.
