Hospital de São Marcos, Religious and medical complex in Braga, Portugal.
The Hospital de São Marcos features a symmetrical Baroque facade with two bell towers and statues of apostles along its balustrade.
The complex originated from a 12th-century Templar hostel and convent, built on an ancient hermitage where Master Gualdim Pais transferred Saint Mark's relics.
Eight stone statues representing martyrs and apostles, created by Carlos Amarante, decorate the exterior of this Portuguese architectural monument.
The hospital section and church building are situated near Campo de S. João and the Praça da República in central Braga.
The main chapel contains the tomb of Diogo de Sousa, the hospital's founder, while housing the preserved relics of Saint Mark.
