Palácio de Água de Peixes

Solar de Agua de Peixes is a manor house in Alvito with a quadrangular shape, two floors, and a central courtyard garden. A water tank of about 50 square meters sits in the middle of this courtyard and forms the core of the layout.

The palace was originally built in the 12th century and gained its current look through major changes made in the 16th century by the House of Braganza. These modifications shaped the architectural form we see today.

The building displays a mix of Gothic and Manueline styles with Mudejar influences, especially in the twin brick windows with horseshoe arches. These architectural details remain visible on the facade and shape how the house looks today.

This is a private residence and is normally not open to visitors. It sits about 6 kilometers from the center of Alvito and keeps the traditional white and blue colors typical of the Alentejo region.

The water tank in the courtyard once served as a swimming pool and is now occupied by a wild olive tree. This tree has become a defining feature of the inner courtyard and shows how the place has evolved over time.
