Santuário do Senhor Jesus dos Milagres

Santuário do Senhor Jesus dos Milagres is a stone church built in an ornate Baroque style with two towers and detailed ceramic tiling applied by local craftspeople. The building dominates the village setting with its distinctive facade and interior decorated in period style.

Construction began in 1732 after believers came to honor an event involving a paralyzed man that occurred in 1728. The shrine became a place of worship that drew people from across the region.

The shrine serves as a focal point for religious ceremonies and processions held each September in honor of Jesus of Miracles. The community gathers here to mark important moments in their spiritual life.

The shrine stands about six kilometers from Leiria and can be visited during daytime hours. Visitors can find it at Rua Conego Amilcar 125, and the church welcomes people on most days for viewing.

The shrine was the origin of the surrounding settlement and shaped its development from the beginning. The village community grew around this religious location and owes its existence to it.
