Santuário do Senhor Jesus dos Milagres, Catholic shrine in Milagres, Portugal
The stone sanctuary features two towers, an Erudite Baroque architectural design, and detailed ceramic tilework created by craftsmen from Juncal Workshops.
Construction of the sanctuary began in 1732 following donations from people who came to honor a reported miracle involving a paralyzed man in 1728.
The sanctuary holds religious services throughout the year and maintains a tradition of processions during the Lord Jesus of Miracles celebrations in September.
Located six kilometers from Leiria, the sanctuary remains open daily from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM and welcomes visitors at Rua Conego Amilcar 125.
The establishment of the sanctuary preceded and influenced the development of the surrounding village of Milagres, making it the center of local community growth.
