Cheile Bicazului-Hășmaș National Park
Cheile Bicazului-Hășmaș National Park, National park in Eastern Carpathians, Romania.
The park spans 6,575 hectares across Neamț and Harghita counties, featuring deep limestone gorges, steep cliffs, and the natural Red Lake formation.
The park received its protected status in January 1990, following Romania's commitment to preserving its natural territories after the political changes.
Local communities maintain traditional Szekler customs through seasonal festivals, gastronomy, and crafts within the regions surrounding the national park.
The administrative center in Izvoru Mureșului provides visitors with detailed maps, emergency contacts, and current conditions for the marked hiking trails.
The park contains over 200 marine fossil species from Cretaceous, Jurassic, and Triassic periods, preserved in the limestone formations of Hășmaș Mountains.
