Saint John the Baptist Church, Târgu Mureș

The Saint John the Baptist Church displays a facade with three vertical sections, two horizontal levels, and monumental pilasters supporting a profiled cornice.

Construction of the church started after Jesuit monks settled in Târgu Mureș in 1702, with the current structure completed in 1764 by constructor Konrad Hammer.

The main altar, crafted in 1755, features paired columns and a painting of The Baptism of God by Michelangelo Unterberger, a student of Giovanni Battista Piazzetta.

The church maintains regular religious services and offers visitors the opportunity to examine the preserved baroque architecture and religious artworks throughout the day.

The interior contains statues representing Ecclesia and Synagogue, along with a collection of luxurious liturgical objects from the 18th century.
