The National Theatre of Târgu Mureș contains a main hall accommodating 600 spectators and two experimental venues for diverse theatrical productions.
Founded in 1946 with the establishment of the Tompa Miklós Company, the theatre building opened its doors to the public in 1978.
The theatre presents productions in both Romanian and Hungarian languages, reflecting the multicultural character of the Transylvanian region.
The theatre building includes the Studio Hall with a mobile auditorium and the Underground Hall designed for contemporary performances.
Among Romania's eight national theatres, this institution stands out as the only one operating two companies performing in different languages under one management.
