Nativity of St. John the Baptist Church, Piatra Neamț, Medieval Orthodox church at Princely Court, Piatra Neamț, Romania.

The Nativity of St. John the Baptist Church is a religious building within the medieval Princely Court of Piatra Neamț that forms part of this historic complex. It has a rectangular layout with side chambers, buttresses showing Gothic influence, and decorative ceramic glazing on its outer walls.

The building was constructed between 1497 and 1498 under a significant Moldavian ruler and represents a religious investment of that period. A bell tower was added the following year, completing the religious complex and demonstrating its importance to the ruling power at that time.

The wooden screen inside displays religious artistry that reflects local craftsmanship and spiritual expression from the 19th century. These carved and painted elements show how the community expressed its faith through skilled decoration.

The church sits within the medieval Princely Court and can be easily reached on foot when exploring the grounds. Visitors should know that interior access may have limited hours, so checking conditions beforehand is a good idea.

The bell tower built around 1499 was designed for more than just calling people to prayer. It also served as a lookout point to watch over the valley and roads leading to a nearby fortress, blending religious and defensive purposes.
