Description
Săvârșin Castle is a three-story neoclassical structure with distinctly colored rooms and multiple reception halls set within extensive parkland planted with rare trees. The buildings contain different apartments arranged to reflect the formal layout of a royal residence.
History
The castle was built between 1650 and 1680 and passed through several Hungarian noble families before becoming the property of King Michael I of Romania in 1943. This transfer marked the beginning of its use as a royal residence.
Culture
The castle preserves the interior design created by Queen-Mother Elena, with furnishings arranged as they were during her time here. The rooms show how the royal family lived and used the space.

A Royal Automobile Museum displaying vehicles from the royal collection is located on the grounds and open to visitors. The parkland is extensive, so plan time to explore and wear comfortable shoes for walking.
