Fortified Lutheran church of Mălâncrav

The Lutheran church features three naves, a polygonal chancel, and a western tower surrounded by 15th-century fortification walls and defense structures.

Built in the 14th century as a Romanesque basilica, the church underwent modifications in the 15th century with the addition of defensive elements against invaders.

The interior contains Transylvania's largest continuous wall paintings from the 14th century, depicting biblical narratives in a medieval educational style.

Visitors can access the church through local transportation services from nearby towns, with guided tours available to explore the Gothic and Renaissance architecture.

The church houses the region's oldest Gothic winged altar with the Mother of God as its central motif and late Gothic pews with carvings by Johann Reychmut.
