Apafi castle is a Renaissance fortress with two wings extending to the north and east of the complex. The structure features a mansard roof and curved arches framing the courtyard facade, with both levels displaying the architectural style typical of that period.
The fortress was built between 1552 and 1567 by Grigore Apafi III and became a major noble residence in the region. After the destruction of Alba Iulia palace, it served as the residence of Prince Mihály Apafi and gained greater political importance.
