Conacul Marghiloman din Buzău

Conacul Marghiloman is a 19th-century manor complex in eastern Buzău that includes the Albatros Villa, outbuildings, and stables surrounded by a historic wall. The grounds feature a large park with walking paths, a lake crossed by a bridge, and stone sculptures scattered throughout.

The manor was built between 1883 and 1887 by Iancu Marghiloman and later improved by architect Paul Gottereau during its expansion. It became an important center of Romanian landed society during the pre-war decades.

The estate shows how Romanian landowners built their homes by mixing local design traditions with European styles of the late 1800s. Visitors can see this blend reflected in the buildings and the way the grounds are organized.

The estate sits within a large dendrological park that is ideal for walking and exploration. Wear comfortable shoes as the grounds have many paths and areas to discover at your own pace.

The Albatros Villa got its name from the family's favorite Arabian horse that was kept in the estate's stables. This connection to a particular animal shows how important horses were to the owners of that era.
