Ćelije Monastery, Orthodox monastery in Lelić, Serbia
The monastery stands on the left bank of the Gradac River, featuring a church with a nine-sided dome supported by thick walls and rising arches.
Founded in the 13th century under Stephen Dragutin of Serbia, the monastery endured multiple destructions and reconstructions during the Ottoman period between the 15th and 19th centuries.
The monastery contains a specialized icon-painting school for nuns, continuing the traditional artistic methods of Serbian Orthodox religious art since 1966.
Located 6 kilometers southwest of Valjevo, the monastery complex includes a bell tower from 1926 and maintains regular religious services throughout the year.
The grave of theologian Saint Justin Popović lies within the monastery grounds, marked by a simple stone cross according to his final wishes.
