PRIZAD building, Protected cultural monument in Stari Grad, Serbia
The PRIZAD building has a circular foundation at the junction of three streets and was designed with clean lines and open spaces throughout. Located at 2 Obilicev venac street in Belgrade's Old Town, it currently houses the offices of Reuters news agency.
The building was completed in 1937 following a design competition and initially served as an administrative center for PRIZAD company. The firm focused on export activities and used it as their headquarters.
The structure reflects late modernist design from the 1930s, blending French monumentalism with Italian and German architectural influences. This mix makes it an important example of European style from that era.
The building sits at a central location in Old Town at a busy street corner, making it easy to find. It can be viewed from outside, though interior access may be limited since it functions as an active office building.
The lobby contains a sculpture of journalist Moše Pijade, commemorating an important historical figure. This bust serves as a quiet reminder of the building's role in the region's past and the people who shaped it.
