Park Proleće, Public park in Stari Grad, Belgrade, Serbia
Park Proleće is a public park with a triangular layout situated in the heart of Belgrade's Old Town district. The space offers multiple entry points, benches, and walking paths that connect its different areas.
Beneath the park lie remnants from ancient Singidunum, the Roman settlement that once occupied this location. The area served as part of a defensive trench network when Austrian forces controlled the region in the early 1700s.
A 1936 monument honoring military commander Vojin Popović stands prominently within the park as its focal point. This memorial gives the space meaning as a place where residents connect with local history.
The site provides free wireless internet access across all its areas for visitors to use. Multiple entry points make it easy to reach from surrounding streets, and well-marked paths help you find your way around.
During a 2018-2019 renovation, residents pushed back against plans to reduce trees and succeeded in keeping them intact. The park ended up gaining additional plantings instead, making the green space larger than it had been before.
