1 Turgenjev Street, Protected residential building in Čukarica, Serbia.
1 Turgenjev Street is a two-story corner building constructed in brick with a tiled roof and small front garden. The structure displays the residential architecture typical of the 1930s with solid walls and modest design.
A doctor named Radomir Ćirković commissioned architect Marko Andrejević to build this residence, which was completed in 1935. Between 1936 and 1941, it became an important meeting place for political discussions.
The house served as a gathering place where members of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia met to discuss matters. It shows how residential buildings in that era were sometimes used for political conversations and meetings.
The building is protected as a cultural monument and located in the Čukarica district of central Belgrade. It is best viewed from the street since it remains a private residence.
Josip Broz Tito visited the house on March 30, 1941 for an important consultation. This moment reveals how closely this modest Belgrade home was connected to major political events of the time.
