Ruines des monastères de la Métropole et de l'Annonciation

The site contains remains of two Orthodox monasteries positioned along the right bank of Mlava River, featuring partially preserved walls and foundations.

The monasteries, constructed in the late 14th century, formed part of a defensive system with watchtowers and fortification walls protecting the medieval town of Ždrelo.

The Great Church exhibits a trefoil plan with semicircular apses, while the Small Church preserves founder tombs and fragments of original frescoes.

The ruins are accessible through marked paths from Petrovac na Mlavi, with the active Gornjak Monastery located 2 kilometers to the east.

The monastic complex includes a three-level hermitage carved into nearby caves, complete with a bakery and ceramic kiln facilities.
