Petrus

The Petrus fortress stands on a hill, enclosed by the Crnica river on three sides and protected by an artificial moat on the western side.

The fortress served as a border defense center in the 14th century, controlling connections between the Moravian region and Timok Valley under Emperor Dusan's rule.

Local legends tell of the fortress's role as a signal point where fires were lit to warn Prince Lazar about approaching Ottoman forces in medieval times.

The fortress remains are located 11 kilometers northeast of Parachin, near the village of Zabrega, offering views of the surrounding landscape.

The site maintained active habitation until 1413, when it fell to Musa, son of Bayazit, marking the last recorded military activity at the fortress.
