Odintsovo, Administrative center in Moscow Oblast, Russia
Odintsovo is a residential town west of Moscow in Odintsovsky District at about 190 meters elevation. Large sections consist of multi-story housing blocks interspersed with wide roads and green spaces.
The settlement began in 1470 as a farming community and grew slowly over the centuries. In 1957 it received town status after the agricultural area transformed into a densely populated suburb.
The Church of Grebnevskaya from 1802 stands at the center and shows the typical features of Russian Orthodox building tradition. Worshippers attend services regularly, which remain an important part of daily life in the community.
The town sits on the railway line, with trains running frequently and bringing commuters into central Moscow in about half an hour. Sidewalks connect the housing blocks to the stations, allowing people to walk between their neighborhood and the platform.
The town coat of arms shows a white deer facing west while its body points east. This posture represents the geographic location between Moscow and the western territories.
