Kirsanov, Railway town in Tambov Oblast, Russia

The town of Kirsanov sits at the junction of the Vorona and Pursovka rivers, with an elevation of 140 meters above sea level.

The settlement started in 1702 under the name Kirsanovo, derived from its first resident Kirsan Zubakin, and received official town status in 1779.

The railway connection established in 1875 between Tambov and Saratov transformed Kirsanov into a regional transportation center in central Russia.

The town spans 10.9 square kilometers and maintains several administrative functions as the center of Kirsanovsky District in Tambov Oblast.

Within Kirsanov's boundaries stands an operational air base, marking the town's contribution to Russian military infrastructure and regional defense capabilities.
