Pechory

Pechory is a small town on hilly terrain near the Estonian border, known for its large religious complex with white walls and blue domes. The monastery forms the focal point of the settlement and shapes its character through its architectural presence and scale.

The settlement began in 1392 when an Orthodox priest founded a monastic community in caves nearby. This early group eventually grew into the Pskovo-Pechorsky Monastery, which became a major religious center for the region.
