House of Soviets, Government building on Moskovsky Prospekt, Saint Petersburg, Russia
The House of Soviets features a central eight-story building with a fourteen-column portico and symmetrical five-story wings decorated with granite and marble.
Construction began in 1936 under architect Noi Trotsky, and during World War II the building served as an artillery command observation post for the Leningrad Front.
The building exhibits Stalinist Empire style architecture with neoclassical elements, including three interior courtyards and an amphitheater-style main hall for 3,000 people.
The structure currently functions as the Moskovsky Business Center, located near Moskovskaya metro station at 212 Moskovsky Prospekt.
The building contains 700 working spaces and 11 conference rooms, with interior finishes incorporating rare wood species alongside marble and granite decorations.
