Anichkov Bridge, Stone bridge over Fontanka River in Saint Petersburg, Russia

The Anichkov Bridge stretches across the Fontanka River with a length of 54.6 meters and features four bronze horse statues at its corners.

Built in 1716 under Peter the Great's reign, the bridge was first constructed as a wooden structure and later rebuilt in stone during the 1780s.

The Horse Tamers sculptures, created by Pyotr Karlovich Klodt in 1841, represent different stages of man controlling nature through four distinct poses.

The bridge serves as a crucial connection point along Nevsky Prospekt, accommodating both vehicle traffic and pedestrians crossing the Fontanka River.

During World War II, the bridge's famous horse sculptures were removed and buried in the garden of a nearby palace for protection.
