Fokino, Naval base town in Primorsky Krai, Russia
Fokino is a closed town situated along the Peter the Great Gulf coast in Primorsky Krai. The settlement rises about 40 meters above sea level and spreads across the landscape overlooking Abrek Bay.
The settlement began in 1891 as Promyslovka and later merged with Tikhookeansky in 1980 to form the current municipality. This combination became the foundation for its role as a naval installation.
The Russian Pacific Fleet maintains a strong presence in Fokino, influencing local traditions and daily activities of the 19,427 residents.
Entry requires special permits due to closed town status, with strict restrictions for non-residents. International visitors should arrange authorization well in advance through official channels.
Following the 2012 APEC Summit in Vladivostok, Fokino received designation as the primary naval installation for Russian maritime operations in the Far East.
