Tomilino

Tomilino is a work settlement in Moscow Oblast that combines residential areas with active industrial facilities. The settlement sits southeast of the capital and houses several manufacturing plants that continue to operate as part of the regional economy.

The settlement began in 1894 when merchant Tomilin built his residence in the area. This initial property eventually attracted factories and workers, transforming the location into an industrial community.

The settlement maintains several educational institutions, including secondary schools, a sports academy, and a music school serving the local population.

Regular bus and train services connect the settlement to Moscow, making it straightforward to reach from the city. Walking through the residential and industrial zones requires basic navigation, and visitors can easily explore both areas on foot.

A specialized plant in the settlement manufactures spacesuits for Russian cosmonauts and produces ejection seats for military aircraft. This particular production has given the location a distinct role in the country's aerospace and defense sectors.
