Bogdinsko-Baskunchakski Nature Reserve

The reserve includes salt flats, steppes, and Mount Bogdo, which rises as the highest point in the Caspian Depression at 149 meters.

The government established this natural sanctuary in 1997 to safeguard the semi-desert ecosystems and the salt-rich Baskunchak Lake region.

The area holds numerous salt mining sites that demonstrate the traditional extraction methods used by local communities for generations.

Visitors can access guided tours through two separate sections: the Mount Bogdo cluster and the Green Garden territory, covering 18,478 hectares.

The reserve contains caves with natural organ-like formations that produce musical sounds when wind passes through their limestone structures.
