Ulagansky District, Administrative district in eastern Altai Republic, Russia

The Ulagansky District spans across 18,367 square kilometers of mountainous terrain and borders four neighboring districts in the Altai Republic.

The district emerged as an administrative entity in October 1923 within the Oirot Autonomous Oblast, establishing local governance structures in the region.

The district population reflects a diverse ethnic composition with Altai people representing 57.2%, Russians 20.2%, and Telengits 16.3% of the total residents.

The district contains seven rural settlements encompassing thirteen rural localities, with the village of Ulagan serving as its administrative center.

The eastern border of Ulagansky District contains sections of the Altai Nature Reserve, shaped by tectonic movements during the Paleozoic period.
