Tao-Rusyr Caldera, Volcanic caldera on Onekotan Island, Russia.
The Tao-Rusyr Caldera spans 7.5 kilometers across the southern section of Onekotan Island, containing the deep waters of Kol'tsevoe Lake.
The caldera emerged from a massive volcanic eruption between 5,550 and 9,400 years ago, releasing 50 to 60 cubic kilometers of material.
The Russian Navy's influence on regional geography led to naming the central peak after Captain Pyotr Krenitsyn of the Imperial fleet.
The caldera reaches an elevation of 1,325 meters and sits between the Sea of Okhotsk and Pacific Ocean at coordinates 49.35°N and 154.7°E.
Krenitsyn Peak forms a symmetrical cone rising as an island within Kol'tsevoe Lake, with a 350-meter-wide crater at its summit.
