Mount Narodnaya, Highest summit of the Ural Mountains in Russia

Mount Narodnaya reaches 1,895 meters and stands as the highest peak of the Ural Mountains in Russia. Its slopes are covered with highland tundra, and small glaciers cling to the northern face, shaping the mountain's appearance.

The mountain formed during the Proterozoic and Cambrian periods from quartzites and metamorphosed slates that shape its geological structure. These ancient rocks were molded over millions of years by geological processes that gave the peak its solid character.

The name Narodnaya comes from the Naroda River, which flows down from the mountain and marks the natural boundary between European Russia and Siberia. This river shapes how people in the region understand the geography and makes the summit a natural landmark of the area.

Climbing this summit requires thorough preparation and mountaineering experience, with the northwest slope offering the most accessible route. Summer provides the best conditions for attempting the climb, as snow and ice present fewer obstacles during warmer months.

This peak stands as the highest point in European Russia outside the Caucasus, rising about 1,771 meters from its base. This elevation makes it a key geographical marker for distinguishing between European and Siberian landscapes.
